Long, thick and properly-curved eyelashes can enhance anyone's face. Not surprisingly, one of the most popular and widespread makeup products around is mascara. Using mascara allows you to highlight your eyelashes and make them appear longer. Additionally, many women also make use of false eyelashes.

That said, there are natural ways to ensure our eyelashes always look their best. Of course, natural or not, these remedies must be applied with care. Check out some of these remedies below:

We start from the assumption that not everyone has the same type of eyelashes or the good fortune to have naturally strong, long and beautiful ones. Aside from genetic factors, there are also environmental and behavioral factors that affect the health and growth of eyelashes and eyebrows. It is therefore very important to lead a healthy life that includes a healthy diet.

Having said that, it is good to know that there are many effective products on the market, such as serums or nourishing oils, made specifically for treating eyelashes. If, however, you prefer to use natural products, the ones usually recommended are olive oil, coconut oil and castor oil.

  • Olive oil: in addition to being one of the cornerstones of the Mediterranean diet, olive oil is known to have a lot of useful properties for the care of various parts of the body. In the specific case of eyelashes, it has a remarkable nourishing power which makes it a suitable product to be applied regularly. Try applying a few drops every night, after makeup removal and normal skincare. Gently pass the oil over the eyelashes with a clean brush, cotton swab or cleansed fingers, and leave on overnight.

  • Coconut oil: Coconut oil is also recommended for nourishing, strengthening and moisturizing eyelashes and eyebrows. The methods of application are the same as for olive oil but it is advisable not to use the oil as regularly: use on alternate days, for a maximum of three evenings a week.
  • Castor oil: lastly, castor oil is probably the best known and most used oil for eyelash care. However, it is not true this oil guarantees extra growth - it has been proven that castor oil does not have any properties that promote hair growth. Rather, it has a moisturizing and restorative power. However, it should be applied very carefully and never over long periods. Another piece of advice is to ensure you use pure castor oil.

In all cases, when dealing with vegetable oils it is always best to make sure you are not allergic to any of their compounds and, above all, make sure that they do not come into direct contact with your eyes. Finally, it is good practice to always consult a doctor or an expert before using them.
