DIY facial cleanser: Make a natural, gentle chamomile-based product

We all have to take care of our skin with products that are not aggressive, and hopefully are free of harmful chemicals. And in the specific case of dealing with the face, particular attention must be paid, since the skin of the face is much more delicate than that of the rest of the body. The first step in correct skincare is always an adequate cleansing routine: here then, you must always have a cleanser to hand to eliminate everything that accumulates on the skin of the face during the day (but also at night).

If you want to try a green alternative, made of natural ingredients and that is delicate but effective, you can prepare a home based solution using chamomile and Castile soap - two natural ingredients that are also suitable for body care.

Castile soap is a plant-based soap, completely non-toxic and biodegradable. It is found in solid or liquid form, and is traditionally prepared from olive oil, although there are now formulations that use coconut, castor, hemp, avocado, walnut or almond oil. In any case, it is a soap that is gentle enough to be used to cleanse the face but is also capable of killing harmful bacteria. It can also be used alone in small quantities, but below we suggest combining it with chamomile, which itself has anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingrediants:

  • 60 ml of liquid Castile soap
  • 60 ml of organic chamomile infusion
  • Just under a teaspoon of sweet almond oil (you can also use grape seed oil, or one of the EVO olive oils)
  • 7 drops of essential oil (lavender, tea tree, but also others can be used). Check which ones are the best according to your skin type, whether oily, dry, combination, etc
  • 3 drops of vitamin E oil

Preparation:

  • Prepare the chamomile and let it cool down completely (obviously without adding any sugar).
  • Mix all the other ingredients together in a small bowl.
  • Add the cold chamomile tea, and mix.
  • Pour everything into a liquid soap dispenser (with a capacity of about 150 ml).

Use this soap with a normal facial cleanser, massaging it onto your face and then rinsing offwell. Then continue with a tonic, moisturizing product or the other steps of your usual skincare routine.
