Readily to hand but not in the way: choose the kitchen roll holder that's right for you
There are many times in the kitchen when we need to grab a few sheets of paper towel and most of us have a roll or two readily to hand. But did you know that you can get stylish, space-saving paper towel roll dispensers/holders? Well, read on to find out more:
1. A bracket under the wall-mounted cabinets
Mounted on the wall, just below a cabinet/shelf: a bracket like this will ensure the roll is readily to hand and frees up working surfaces - especially useful in small kitchens.
2. Portable, vertical roll holders that even come in ceramic
If you use paper towels as napkins, then you will need to have a portable dispenser which holds the rolls vertically on the dining table. These types of dispensers come in all sizes, shapes, styles and materials: metal, wood, plastic and even beautifully painted ceramics (like the one shown here). Some models also have a lip that holds the next sheet conveniently ready to be torn off !
3. Leather straps
Here's a minimalist solution that can suit many decor styles and works well not only for paper rolls but also for dishcloths and towels: two leather straps secured to a wall, supporting a rod - simple and effective.
4. DIY ideas
Like the previous solution, here's one you can easily make yourself: just make a "necklace" of wooden beads and cord and attach it to the wall! And if you want, you can also use colored beads if you don't want a natural, all-wood look.
5. No space? Maybe you didn't look behind the kitchen door
If you don't have much space in your kitchen, you can consider placing the dispenser behind the door! You can choose to use brackets, hang-up pockets and many, many more available solutions (check out the example shown here).
6. Tailor-made solutions: a pull-out drawer
One of the most popular space-saving solutions is to use the space between two pieces of kitchen cabinets to install a narrow, pull-out drawer. And you can put your roll dispenser in this drawer, just like the one shown here!
7. Cookbooks one top, roll dispenser below
Here's an example of a multi-pupose, wall-mounted unit that you can also put up on the side of a kitchen cabinet: this way, you can have your cookbooks (or even a tablet) on the top, and a roll dispenser at the bottom.
8. A niche just for them
Hemphill's Rugs & Carpets/Houzz
If you have the space, you can install a kitchen cabinet that includes a niche just for your paper rolls (and which is typically positioned under the worktop or near the sink). Very convenient!
9. An ever-ready supply
TRUMMIS/IKEA
If you want to keep a number of paper rolls readily to hand, you can consider keeping your "stash" in a basket made of rattan or some similar material! An unconventional, but certainly attractive solution, as you can see here.
