Each different season is an opportunity to decorate your home and garden with new accoutrement, and fall is no exception. However, if you're thinking of decorating your entryway this fall, it is not enough to just put out a couple of pumpkins - you can create something much more spectacular with a little effort.

Whether you have a plain front door or perhaps you have a porch with steps - it doesn't really matter: listed below are some ideas you can draw inspiration from for this fall.

1. A fall triumph

An entryway protected with a portico and columns becomes the ideal setting for anyone who wants to show off a professional decoration like the one shown here: a veritable triumph of branches with colored leaves, ears of corn, pumpkins (artificial ones fixed to the columns!) and flower pots flanking the door. A true fall festival!

2. Minimalism, but not overboard

Here's a great tip: take advantage of the geometry of the space to decorate it, following the architectural lines. Find the corners that look a bit bland/boring to decorate. Also consider using the background offered by the walls of the house, to best highlight the shapes and colors of your pumpkins, lanterns and any other decoration you'd like to use.

3. Spotlight on pumpkins and seasonal flowers

Sometimes, you just have to let nature "do its thing": in fall, nature offers us so many beautiful, natural resources and all you have to do is take some pumpkins of different colours and fill vases or bowls with chrysanthemums. And as easy as that, you're done!

4. A breathtaking show at night

Pumpkins and vases of chrysanthemums look great on their own, but check out how much more spectacular this arrangement becomes when adding candles, torches and lanterns: during the day, you can see all the colors of the flowers and at night, it becomes a breathtaking spectacle!

5. Modern, bright farmhouse

Here's an example of desaturated colors veiled in white and based on a farmhouse-type decor, but with a modern touch. This harmonious melding of the rustic with the contemporary is clearly shown in this picture. In an IG post by @trayertribe, you can also find some useful advice for setting up your own "fall-themed entryway":

  • Change the doormat and put one out that has a fall theme (and put an outdoors rug underneath it too)!
  • If you have vases of flowers out that are NOT in season, change these for flora that is iconic of fall!
  • Add a wreath to the door.
  • Pumpkins are always great, even artificial ones (which won't have to be replaced, of course)! If you ever get bored of them in the years to come, you can always "upgrade" them with some paint or other decorative materials.
  • Have at least a couple of lanterns out to give a touch of light and warmth to the entryway during the evenings.
  • If you have some chairs or armchairs, decorate them with cushions or blankets in fall colors and/or patterns.

6. An unexpected splash of color

Fall always invokes images of warm and vibrant colors and shades, from yellow to red to brown. But there's also room for other colors, if you want. Just choose a color you like and play around with the shades that it comes in until you find a hue that matches the entire entryway ensemble that won't clash with the decor.
