Eye-catching solutions for separating your sleeping quarters from the other areas of the house
Are there no clear divisions/partitions between the different areas in the rooms of your home? Well, this can easily be sorted out by installing a divider/partition - which is especially useful if you want to separate off your sleeping area. Separating off sleeping quarters helps to preserve your privacy and ensures you get a good night's rest.
Depending on the types of rooms and houses, many different methods and materials can be used to install room dividers/partitions. Let's check out some examples below:
1. A half-length plasterboard
A half-length plasterboard partition does not stretch from one side of the room to the other, so it divides but does not close everything off. Basically being a half-length wall, it can also be equipped with shelving, rails and hooks to hold, for example, your media station, clothes, ornaments and more!
2. Bookcase or closet
Sometimes, the space to be partitioned is one that includes a sleeping area on one side and closets (even walk-in models) on the other. So, a divider which is serves as bookcase and/or an open-faced closet (as pictured here) can be a very handy addition to your home.
3. All-natural elements
In other cases, you may want to separate the sleeping area or living room from the bathroom, a lot like they do in certain hotel rooms! If you don't mind both sides still being partially visible, a partition made of wooden logs or a row of tall plants could be exactly what you're looking for.
4. A high-quality screen
This classic partitioning solution is not necessarily the most boring: if you find a high-quality screen - made from "refined" materials and/or tastefully decorated - it will look beautiful when installed. And screens also have the advantage of being easy to move if and when needed.
5. Mirrored glass panels and curtains
If you want a divider/partition that will reflect the light, there's nothing better than using one made from mirrored glass panels. Installed so they can easily slide open and closed, the addition of curtains above/flanking the panels will allow you to maintain your privacy.
6. Glass panels and metal frames
Since glass does not block the passage of light, it's perfect to use in "tight, awkward" areas, such as attics and lofts. For those who love the iconic loft style, there's nothing better than a glass-panelled divider/partition that has a black metal structural frame, as shown in the above photo.
7. A room within a room
Imagine a large studio apartment where you cannot put up walls as dividers without making the space feel cramped and oppressive. In the example shown here, a bedroom surrounded by transparent (see-thru) dividers is the solution you could be looking for.
8. A furniture divider
When the partition doesn't need to be as "pronounced", then a large piece of furniture can become a handy room divider. A large, tall chest of drawers - as shown here - placed at the head/foot of the bed will be sufficient to make the division of the two areas very clear.
