Easter egg hunt: 11 adorable baskets to make this fun tradition even more special
The Easter egg hunt is one of the most entertaining, traditional activities to do with children at Eastertime. Fake or real eggs are decorated, hidden and then "hunted down" by eager children. And obviously, the kids need baskets to gather up all their eggs. These baskets, then, form part of the overall Easter decorations, and they come in all shapes and sizes!
1. Simple wicker baskets
Here's an example of a "real" egg collection basket that you might find being used by farmers to gather up the eggs from their chicken coops. Rustic and classic, these wicker baskets are perfect for Easter egg hunts and to later serve as centerpieces during the holidays.
2. A lined basket
For a slightly more refined touch, you can line a wicker basket like the one shown here. Check out how cute the tassels are on this example!
3. Personalized labels
The simplest way to personalize these baskets is to add labels - which could be in the shape of an egg or an Easter bunny. This way, they'll be no fights over who owns what basket!
These labels could be made of wood (typically plywood), felt, foam, or cardboard!
4. Wicker baskets with bunny ears
There is no doubt that rabbits dominate Easter decorations, and you could consider using wicker basket that already have bunny ears "built in"!
5. Cloth ears in the baskets
Check out this cute idea: the internal lining comes with flaps that look like soft bunny ears. Then there is stitching on the weave of the basket itself depicting the rabbit's eyes and nose!
6. Burlap bags
Burlap (aka jute) is the perfect material for making rustic, natural or even shabby-chic decorations. If you like these styles, then bags on which to paint (or affix cut-outs) of Easter-themed designs and/or the names of the children, is a great idea.
7. Soft bags with ears
Do you prefer soft fabric bags? Pictured here a couple of good examples (and they also have a drawstring to cinch them closed). And, of course, they have the ubiquitous bunny ears and children's names!
8. A felt basket
Thick and sturdy felt can be used to make a light, robust basket with a stylized bunny, of course. After Easter, this basket can be used as a general purpose container or even a flower pot holder.
9. A felt bucket with furry ears
These baskets are also made of felt and come in the shape of a bucket with a useful handle. But these baskets have soft, furry, floppy bunny ears attached to the sides.
10. A fabric bag for all ages
Looking for something that is also suitable for adults? Well, why not go for fabric bags that, at first glance, look almost like beach bags or personalized totes (aside from the addition of the bunny ears, of course).
11. Cute buckets
Here's another cute idea: these white cotton bucket-shaped bags are decorated with Easter bunny iconography, and with the owner's name printed on the carrot. Really adorable!
