3 creative ideas for transforming egg cartons into colorful, cute decorations
Egg cartons are one of the major waste products produced by families, especially large ones with children. However, you can make many decorative objects using empty egg cartons. And it will be fun to include the kids in these activities too.
1 - Little chicks with hats
Turning egg cartons into adorable chicks is a creative, eco-friendly project.
- Start by cutting individual holders from the egg carton - each holder will be the base for a chick.
- Paint the outside of the cardboard with yellow paint and let it dry completely.
- Cut small triangles from orange card to make the beaks and small circles from black card for the eyes. You could also draw on the eyes and beak with colored markers.
- Then use the leftover parts of the egg carton to create hats. Have fun painting these in bright colors and delicately glue them the chick's head.
2 - Olaf puppets from Frozen
This project is perfect for "Frozen" (the movie) lovers of all ages and can be a fun way to get children involved in recycling.
- Cut the egg carton up, using the individual holders as the base for Olaf's body.
- Then paint everything with white paint and let it dry completely.
- With black paint you paint on the buttons, mouth and eyes, while with an orange marker, you draw the characteristic carrot nose. For a three-dimensional effect, you could cut a small cone out of orange card and glue it onto the body.
- Finally, glue some small wooden sticks/twigs to the sides to create the arms.
3 - Small colored mushrooms

Bring your surroundings back to life with cute, colorful mushrooms made from egg cartons. This creative recycling project is not only an excellent way to reuse waste, but it also adds a touch of fun and color to your home.
- Cut the egg carton into its individual holders, using these for the mushroom caps and the bottoms for the stems.
- Paint the caps in bright colors. You can use your imagination here, or you could go for a more "realistic" look.
- Paint the stems in white or some other light color/s.
- Once dry, add dots or stripes to the mushroom caps (if you want) to create an even more stunning effect.
- Glue the stems to the caps to complete the mushrooms. Make sure they are dry before you put them out.
