Granite sinks have become more popular recently, largely due to their decorative beauty, incredible robustness, high resistance to temperature differentials and granite's natural antibacterial properties. Like all materials, granite also requires constant maintenance and regular cleaning to stay in good condition.

To correctly clean and care for your granite sink, you need to make sure you are using the right cleaning products and techniques.

Below, we describe how to do this:

Regular cleaning of a granite sink involves a series of steps that must be carried out after each use:

  • Rinse the sink with soap and water after each use to remove any stains from the surface;
  • Dry off the sink carefully to prevent limescale residue from settling on the surface (which can be difficult to remove if it builds up)

Avoid using some specific cleaning tools and products:

  • Do not use metal or abrasive scourers, sponges or brushes, which could irreparably scratch the granite;
  • Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners such as thinners or drain cleaners.

So, how can limescale residue be dealt with? Well, limescale can be easily removed using some natural remedies:

  • White vinegar is a perfect remedy for removing limescale: mix one part vinegar to 3 parts water and apply this solution directly to the sink. Leave to act for 30 minutes, then rub off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge, rinsing thoroughly and drying afterwards;
  • Citric acid is also a great product for cleaning granite sinks: dilute 200 grams of citric acid in 1 liter of water and spray it on the surface of the sink. ,Leave to act for 30 minutes and then rub off, rinsing and drying afterwards. Even half a lemon rubbed directly on the surface of the sink will have the same cleaning effect;
  • Eliminate streaks and prevent them reforming by rubbing a pad lightly soaked in olive oil over the entire surface, then drying off with a clean cloth.

These cleaning techniques will keep your granite sink in tip-top condition.
