Cleaning the house takes up a lot of time and can, in the long run, be quite expensive given the many "specialized" cleaning products that are on the market. But is it really necessary to spend all this money, or are there cheaper ways to get the same results?

The answer is "yes", and there are many detergents that can be easily be homemade to save money: let's check out 4 of these DIY detergents:

Do you want a detergent that can clean all the surfaces in your house? Well, make your own! Doing this is really easy and all you need is hot water, vinegar, lemon juice and, if you want, a few drops of essential oil.

Mix together 200 ml of warm or hot water, a glass of vinegar and 10 drops of essential oil you like. As an alternative to vinegar, you can use either the juice of half a lemon or a spoonful of baking soda. Mix thoroughly and pour into a spray bottle. At this point, you can get going (just test it out on a hidden spot first if you have any doubts).

Making a floor detergent is easy too. Mix two glasses of vinegar with warm water in a bucket and add a few drops of essential oil. Stir to mix, soak a floor-cleaning rag in the solution and wipe over the floor.

The scent that will be released will be very pleasant and it will not be necessary to do any rinsing.

Are you ready for a change when it comes to dishwashing liquid? Well, try this one:

Mix hot water, 3 tablespoons baking soda and Marseille soap flakes in a bottle. Once thoroughly mixed, you now have a detergent to wash your dishes with. Alternatively, you could replace the baking soda and soap with vinegar and lemon. Combined, these two ingredients will give great results and smell pleasant too.
