An alternative method to clean grouting

Anyone who has pets at home probably also has spray products that are used to remove urine stains (and odors) from furniture upholstery and other surfaces. The best products for this are enzymatic ones, but there are other types too. And did you know that these products can also be useful for cleaning grouting? Foaming enzymatic detergents are better for this purpose than liquid versions. Simply apply a moderate amount of the detergent on the grouting, leave to act for a while and then scrub off with a medium-hard toothbrush. Finish by rinsing off.
Thanks to the degreasing action of this foam detergent, your grouting will look as good as new again!
Other products for cleaning grouting
We can recommend several alternative products for cleaning grouting and without having to buy a special products. For example, you can use:
- A good, multi-purpose degreaser: the degreaser you commonly use in the bathroom or kitchen might be all you need. On the floor, you can pour it directly onto the areas to be washed. Leave this to act and scrub to remove the grime.
- Hydrogen peroxide: if the surface to be cleaned is not very large, or if you haven't cleaned it for a long time, hydrogen peroxide is the solution (and will remove mold too). You can use hydrogen peroxide in liquid form, pouring it directly onto the grouting and waiting for it to act for a few minutes before scrubbing and washing; alternatively, mix it with a little baking soda to form a cream that can be spread over the grouting. Again, leave this to act for a while before thoroughly scrubbing away the dirt and rinsing off.
- Lemon juice or white vinegar: use these neat or diluted in water, in a spray bottle like any regular degreaser. To ensure effective cleaning, leave on the grouting for a couple of minutes and then proceed with manual cleaning.
