Old-fashioned vinyl music records have made a comeback in the marketplace recently, and it doesn't look like they'll be going away anytime soon - despite being surpassed by newer technologies. A bit like books, there is a distinct pleasure in selecting and handling vinyl records (as opposed to simply double-clicking on a mp3/4 file). For many selecting, handling and playing a vinyl record is part of a wonderful, satisfying ritual. And, of course, records usually come in sleeves/covers that are decorated with amazing artwork.

So why not put your record collection on display - even if it's a small one?

There are some record covers that are true works of art and should be on full display. Using the aforementioned KALLAX in the way shown here, one its two sides can be used to display your amazing record covers!

EKET by IKEA is just a simple cube, but many people use a number of them to build larger pieces of furniture - a bit like stacking building blocks. Totally customizable, these cubes are also an ideal spot for you to store your records!

If you don't have many records, you can use more compact furniture, perhaps with an unusual shape too (like the wooden one shown here with a rustic feel). It's cute as it is, but you could also consider painting it any color you want for a more modern look!

How about trying some DIY? With a few woodworking skills, building the display unit shown here is very doable. And online, you can many find tutorials showing exactly how to do it (and sometimes also coming with PDF plans you can buy).

Record display units may look simplistic, but they don't have to be bland or boring. For instance, check out the example shown here which would look great placed next to the record player.

Often these pieces of furniture are divided into several compartments which can also accommodate the turntable and the speakers, creating an "entertainment center" that (might) only lack the addition of some comfortable "listening" chairs and side tables...

Obviously, you can also convert non-standard furniture - like open-faced bookcases - into stands/display units for your record collection.
