Have fun decorating the bathroom: make your shower cubicle look stunning
If there is one area in the bathroom where you can (and should) pamper yourself, it's in the shower or bathtub area. Given this, you may want it to look its best by doing it up a bit.
Below, we present some ideas about how to spruce up this area - and without overdoing it or creating an eyesore. Keep reading to find out more:
Small, herringbone-shaped tiles
Here's a "neutral" bathroom, but the shower cubicle certainly stands out! You too can do this by cladding just the shower cubicle (as shown here), with small rectangular tiles arranged in a herringbone pattern.
The large tiles are also beautiful
Depending on the size and position of the shower, large tiles covering one (or more) walls of the shower cubicle can also be very beautiful. In this example, we see a wonderful combination of both large and small tiles (on opposite walls)!
Fish scale tiles
Popular for some time now, fish scale tiles create a unique look. They hark back to the haydays of Art Deco, which maintains its charm even in modern times. The combination of neutral colors, contrasting with the ochre (matching the faucets), is a fantastic fusion of vintage and modern decorative elements.
Playful geometries
Bring a bit of "playfulness" to the shower/tub area by using geometric patterns that blend the old with the new.
How about stripes?
Regular square or rectangular tiles are OK, but why not create some interesting patterns with them? Decorating with two-tone stripes - even if on only one of the walls (like in this example) - can help create the impression that the ceiling is much higher than it really is!
Colored grouting

This idea is not for everyone, but a color contrast between the tiles and the grout could work for some. This technique works best with white tiles and with the grouting colored to match the dominant color in the bathroom. But there are also examples of light blue tiles being used with lime green grout!
The classic mosaic
Speaking of shower wall claddings, why not consider "going mosaic"? The small square tiles allow you to create a thousand color combos, shades, gradients and patterns.
DIY
Have you ever considered that old, boring white tiles can be transformed with a DIY project? There are ways you can paint tiles to completely transform them - along with your bathroom too!
A clown bathroom!
How about a bathroom that looks like a clown/harlequin's costume? Colorful triangular tiles arranged in a seemingly random way. You can customise this look however you want!
