Transform your home into a cocoon of comfort during the winter by following these 6 tips
Winter is the season when we spend the most time indoors: it's cold, it gets dark earlier, and we don't much feel like staying out late. So, what do we do with the "extra" time we spend while at home, indoors?
Well, we might binge-watch films or TV series, read books and comics, play video games for hours or just listen to our favorite music. And what's better than doing all this in a space designed to enhance relaxation? Let's check out some ways to ensure this:
The lighting is right... and there's more than one!
Whether it's the living room or the bedroom, the lighting must be right. Rather than having a single source of light from a central light fitting, use lamps (floor lamps, table lamps, and even wall scounces). These will create many sources of light around the room. This way, there will be no "hidden" corners where, when needed, the light cannot reach.
Don't forget candles
The perfect lighting also creates a nice atmosphere. Given this, what could be better than using candles? Place them wherever you like: they will be excellent decorations and will spread their romantic light throughout the room.
Layers of softness
Do you already have a duvet and warm sheets on the bed? It is not enough! Create a cocoon of warmth and softness for yourself: add some extra blankets or throws which you can snuggle under when you don't want to get between the sheets. Now you can have a comfy nest on top of your bed!
The same goes for the living room (or anywhere else you sit): sofas or armchairs, the office chair, a bench in the kitchen, the seat by a window, and so on. Have extra blankets ready, and also some extra pillows. Keep order by having a large basket to put these items in when not in use (or you need to tidy up a bit)!
Faux fur, for a log cabin atmosphere
In addition to wool or fleece blankets, you could consider going with faux fur. Not for everyone, there is no doubt that faux fur throws, rugs, etc help create a "log cabin" atmosphere that the more "outdoorsy" types will enjoy.
Life made to measure
True comfort comes from doing what we like, when we like and with total freedom. And if you don't have a spot like this you can enjoy at home, then, you still have some work to do. So, ask yourself: "Want do I need to do to make a den all to myself in this house"?
What will your ideal den look like?
