Fold your hooded sweatshirts properly in order to save space in your closets or suitcases
Hooded sweatshirts (hoodies) are bulky, unwieldy and take up a lot of space in the closets and luggage (when we're travelling). But it doesn't have to be this way:
By learning to fold up hooded sweatshirts properly, you can greatly reduce the amount of space they take up. You can make them much more compact, and gain valuable space for you other things! Let's see how to do this:
Fold a hooded sweatshirt properly to save space
Creativo
It's natural to want to fold up a hooded sweatshirt like they do in the shops - but, in fact, this "configuration" takes up a lot of space and they are not that easy to move around when we need to go "digging" for garments below or placed on top of them.
A much better of way of doing things is to fold the sweatshirt into its hood - a bit like you do with raincoats when travelling! Here is the procedure:
- Place the sweatshirt face up and opened up on a flat surface;
- Fold one outer edge of the hoodie toward the center, and repeat that step with the other outer edge;
- Fold the sleeves in at an angle;
- Roll up the sweatshirt, starting from the bottom;
- Once you reach the hood, push the roll inside it.
This is definitely a quick and convenient folding method when you're in a hurry.
Fold the hoodie using the Marie Kondo methods
If you have more time, use the folding method made famous by Marie Kondo. Here are the steps to follow:
- Begin by placing the hooded sweatshirt on a clean and flat surface, ensuring it's smoothed out to make the folding process easier;
- Fold the sweatshirt vertically, bringing one side over to meet the other. This step helps create a clear center line for the subsequent folds;
- If the sweatshirt has long sleeves, fold them inwards so that they align with the folded edges. This step helps in creating a more compact shape;
- Fold the hoodie again horizontally, in thirds or halves, depending on the size of the garment. This will give you a rectangular shape.
- Ensure that the final fold creates a neat and compact rectangle;
- Finally, fold the top towards the center, and fold (almost by rolling it) once again, towards the opposite edge.
Now, you should have a super-compact "hoodie package" in your hands!
