Boho bathrooms: a space somewhere between a living room and the garden
A bohemian-styled bathroom (aka boho-bathroom), is one where a mix of rich colors and materials creates an oasis for relaxation. There are no precise "boho rules" to follow, but the emphasis is on relaxation and not just on efficiency or functionality in the bathroom.
Plants feature prominently, and sometimes, these boho bathrooms can look like mini greenhouses or domestic jungles - but without being overwhelming. Check out some of the examples we have listed below:
Like an exotic living room, but in the bathroom
Boho bathrooms are spaces where you can enjoy taking care of yourself: if the bathroom is comfortable and colourful - like a living room - you will want to spend quality time there and not be in rush to get out.
Plants to the fore

As in all rooms furnished in the boho style, there is never a shortage of plants. Plants can be hung up, placed in or around the shower cubicle and the tub and on the shelves and bathroom tops.
Natural materials and colors
In boho bathrooms, nature is ever-present. Use a color palette that will invoke images of plants, the earth, sand or rocks, to create a welcoming and warm atmosphere.
The use of natural material is also recommended: use "raw" stone for sinks or wall coverings; natural, untreated wood for the furniture; straw and natural fibers for baskets and more. These are just a few examples of materials that fit well with a boho decor.
An accent wall and vibrant colors
The boho style invokes images of whirlwinds of colorful decorative patterns which we can reflect in our choice of wall tiles, flooring, textiles, wallpaper and more. If you particularly bold, you can decorate an accent wall with tiles or wallpaper in bright colors and vibrant designs to serve as a stunning background to your boho bathroom.
Walk-in showers
It's not mandatory, but boho bathrooms usually have walk-in showers, i.e. those that do not have raised cubicle stall bottoms and are partitioned off with glass sheeting/doors. "Open" showers like this help to make the bathroom feel more spacious and non-restrictive.
Adapt to the available space
Even in an attic/loft, a boho bathroom can have pride of place: plants help, of course, but the unique shape of a loft can add a lot of character to a bathroom in this style.
Bringing nature inside
You may have heard about indoor/outdoor (I/O) bathrooms: they are those bathrooms that are open to the outside of the house, overlooking nature (of the adjacent garden or forest, for example). Not a signature of the boho style, these I/O bathrooms can be adapted to the style quite easily.
I/O bathrooms typically have skylights, glass walls, or even an opening in the masonry looking out onto the garden: in a sense, with the play of natural light and the views, these bathroom almost become a part of nature!
