Tired of old and worn-out furniture? Using wallpaper, you can breath new life into it
Imagine renovating an old, worn-out piece of furniture with a bit of wallpaper. Is it possible to transform an "eyesore" into an attractive piece of furniture we would be proud of just by using wallpaper?
Of course, you could repaint old, tired furniture. But this can be a long and tedious process. But using wallpaper for the same purpose is much, much easier! Let's check out some examples:
Wallpaper on the furniture
Check out this piece of furniture in the photo: it's a chest of drawers like many others, and was very dreary before its "makeover". But now look at how the wallpaper has rejuvenated this piece. In this case, the wallpaper was applied we to the drawer fronts. And you could do the same for closet doors, for example.
It is a very easy, quick and cheap to uplift furniture in this manner. And wallpaper comes with patterns, textures and prints that will suit all tastes.
... with any type of wallpaper!
The best wallpaper for this type of project is the adhesive-backed version, which is easy to apply: just like a sticker, remove the protective film and apply to the piece of furniture slowly, using a scraper to prevent the formation of air bubbles. These days, adhesive wallpapers come in a myriad of styles, patterns and designs that will suit all tastes.
All that's really needed is to be precise in cutting the wallpaper to size to fit the furniture (near) perfectly.
And the wallpaper doesn't necessarily have to have a smooth finish: for example, there are wallpapers available that have a straw or stippled-like finishes.
Textured wallpapers that you can paint
No doubt you are familar with finely engraved wood or metal, with a slight relief that you can feel with the tips of your fingers: you can also have this effect with wallpaper! Here is an example of a raised, embossed wallpaper that has then been painted over to match the rest of the room. This is one way to make your commonly-found furniture pieces truly unique!
Where else can wallpaper be used on furniture?
Applying wallpaper to the front faces of furniture is an obvious choice, but can it be placed elsewhere? Well, you could put up wallpaper inside some furniture types. Think about, for example, using it as a backing material for the interior of a glass-doored display cabinet.
Similarly, you could use wallpaper as a backing surface for a bookcase, eliminating the "black hole" that this recess typically resembles.
And why not use wallpaper in a "secretive" way? In this example, only you will know that gorgeous wallpaper will be revealed when the drawers are pulled out!
