1. Fabric star on a wooden board
Put some nails into a wooden board and make a fabric star by stretching a ribbon around the nails. A simple-to-make decoration that has a great decorative effect.
2. Burlap tape fir trees
Make simple fir trees by gluing green burlap tape around polystyrene cones and securing them to jute-covered polystyrene bases using a stick for a trunk.
3. Cinnamon candles
Wrap plain white candles with cinnamon sticks which you can tie together with string or twine and decorate with mistletoe or holly.
4. Fabric tree balls
For your rustic-styled Christmas tree, cover some old baubles with fabric squares, secure them with string and finish off with a burlap ribbon and decorative beads. Once done, hang them on the tree.
5. Rustic centerpiece
To create a rustic DIY centerpiece, all you need is a wooden tray/box and some small fir branches, decorated with berries and red bows.
6. Galvanized containers
To decorate the outdoors, use galvanized containers (tin tubs) decorated in a Christmas theme: all you need is a template of something "Christmassy" cut out of paper and some paint (acrylic or, better still, spray paint).
7. Pallet Christmas tree
A rustic Christmas tree can easily be made using pallet wood, laid at an angle and secured with wood glue. Lean your tree against a wall and surround it with faux gift packages.
8. Bottle candle holder
Make some pretty rustic candle holders with glass bottles. Simply fill the bottles with cold water and insert any twigs you like: fir, juniper, rosemary, holly or any other plant you like. Add the candles, and your decoration is ready.

Dried fruit and/or vegetation are great Christmas classics and are perfect for decorating your homes in a rustic style. To decorate your tree, use pine cones - perhaps sprayed gold, silver or with fake snow. You can also make pretty tree ornaments using the caps (cupule) from acorns (as shown here). All you need to do is paint a polystyrene ball, cover it with acorn caps and sprinkle it with glitter. Add a bow and you're done.
10. Advent calendar
Instead of buying a new Advent calendar, how about creating one yourself? Make a small wooden fir tree on which to hang 24 fabric bags containing small gifts - your children will love this!
11. Dried fruit decorations
Make some pretty, fragrant dried fruit decorations to use throughout the house. Add them to evergreen wreaths or hang them on small fir trees: they will add color and liveliness to home.
12. Pine cone owls
Pine cones are great for making Christmas decorations, like the owls you see here. Draw the shapes you need on a felt cloth, cut them out and glue them onto the pine cones using hot glue.
13. Cardboard decorations
With cardboard toilet paper rolls, you can make pretty floral decorations to hang on your Christmas tree (as shown here). Simply cut the rolls into strips and join them together to form a flower. Then decorate it however you like with glitter, beads artificial snow and more.
14. Twine balls
We finish with the perfect decoration for your rustic tree: twine ball ornaments. Inflate a balloon to the size you want, cover it with cling film and wrap it in twine, taking care to keep the strands taut. Brush on white glue and leave to dry overnight. Once dry, pop the balloon and your twine ball is ready for the tree.
