From sofas to carpets: with a pot lid, you can clean everything faster
How pleasant it is to sit on your favorite sofa or armchair and relax... But how annoying is it if it is dirty and smelly?! And the same goes for rugs and carpets - and which are also not the easiest items to clean.
But you don't need to put up with dirty furnishings or resort to using special cleaning equipment: for effective and quick cleaning, we can use a tip that has gone viral online and for which you just need the lid of a pot (and very little else)!
A pot lid is all you need to clean the sofa

You don't need much to employ this fantastic cleaning method:
- A lid (from a pot). To make things easier for you, the larger and flatter the surface to be cleaned, the larger the diameter of the lid should be. If, however, you have to clean an armchair, it is better to use a medium-sized lid. Make sure the lid has a handle that you can grip on to.
- A microfibre cloth, as large as possible and which will cover the underside of the lid and close around the top/handle.
- A bowl.
- Warm, soapy water (Marseille soap should be fine, but if you have a specific favorite, use this - but in small doses).
Have several cloths ready if you need to clean many surfaces!
How to clean upholstery using a lid
Before cleaning the upholstery, vacuum or brush it thoroughly first to remove dust, hair and other debris. Then move on to cleaning: dip a cloth in the soapy water you prepared earlier and wring it out well.
Then, take the now-damp cloth and spread it out on a flat surface. Place the lid on top of it and then take the edges and wrap them around the lid and tie together on top (preferably using the space between the lid and the handle for this).
Now it's just a matter of using some elbow grease! Place your "dressed" lid on the surface to be cleaned, and rub it over the surface using strong, circular movements. The results will be sure to amaze you!

How to clean microfiber sofas and armchairs
In addition to the lid-cleaning method above, if your sofa is covered with microfiber upholstery, you can try these methods too:
- Using mild dish soap. You will need very little, and two basins of hot water. Pour 50 ml of dish soap into one, dip a brush or sponge into it, and scrub the sofa with it, moving from top to bottom. When you need to rinse off, dip a cloth in clean water, wring out well and dab the sofa.
- Alternatively, you can use isopropyl alcohol: pour 100 ml into a spray bottle, and add 250 ml of water. Spray on a soft cloth and rub the sofa down with it. Then, take another damp cloth (properly wrung out) to rinse off. Let the sofa dry and vacuum to finish.
