To keep your bathroom pleasantly scented, take advantage of these DIY tips
Every time we enter a clean and scented bathroom we experience a feeling of comfort that immediately relaxes us: using a bathroom like this is very pleasant. By contrast, a bathroom that smells bad immediately gives us a feeling of a lack of good hygiene standards.
This is why adopting some good habits can do much to make using the bathroom always a pleasant experience, even for our guests. And not much needs to be done!
Bath bombs... but in the shower!

Bath bombs are very pleasant to use and are great-smelling - but what if we don't have a bath to use them in? Well, don't worry: there are many people who use bath bombs in the shower. Of course, the fun of seeing the bomb stain the bathwater wonderful colros will be missing, but we can certainly enjoy the scent they give off.
Just put a bath bomb in a mesh bag and hang it on the shower head or on the faucet knobs. As the hot water cascades over the bomb, it will do its job, releasing its scent (and it will last longer too)!
Alternatively, you can break off a piece and put the crumbled bits in/near the drain (covered with a filter, to prevent the pieces from clogging the pipes before dissolving properly), and you'll get the same result!
DIY tablets to clean and perfume the toilet
During your regular bathroom cleaning routine (which should be at least once or twice a week), you can also use home-made toilet tablets (the effervescent ones that slowly dissolve in the toilet bowl). You can use them in the evening, or before going out to work - in short, when you know that for several hours there is no risk of the toilet being flushed.
You will need:
- A mold for ice cubes or chocolates;
- 15-20 drops of essential oil;
- 160 g of sodium bicarbonate;
- half a spoonful of vinegar;
- 60 ml of lemon juice;
- 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide.
In a bowl, mix the bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice, while in another, combine the hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. Once done, combine the two compounds, adding the essential oil. Then, by hand or with the help of a spoon, fill the compartments of the mold properly (but you can also create well-compacted balls). Leave to dry for a few hours (in the case of balls, place them on a sheet of baking paper in a dry place).
When they are dry, place them in a glass jar with a lid on, and when needed, pop one into the toilet bowl: these tablets will help clean and scent your toilet and bathroom!
The toilet paper trick
Creativo
This is quick and easy to do: take one of the toilet paper rolls you have in the bathroom and place a couple of drops of essential oil on the inside of the roll's cardboard tube. Now you have an instant air freshener! As soon as you can no longer smell the scent, repeat this "procedure". Obviously, you can chose whatever essential oil you like.
Other ways to use essential oils to perfume the bathroom

There are several other ways to use essential oils, but which are the best oils to use? Favorites include lavender oil, with its relaxing properties; citrus fruit oils have an energizing effect; mint is always refreshing; and eucalyptus, with a balsamic aroma, is beneficial for our airways. To use:
- Pour a few drops onto cotton wool balls or pads placed in a saucer or bowl;
- Alternatively, you can also pour the oils into a small bowl into which you have placed a couple of spoons of baking soda;
- If you have a potpourri of dried leaves and flowers that has perhaps lost its original perfume, you can revive it by putting a few drops onto it.

In short, between regular cleaning and using these tips, you will always have a very fragrant bathroom!
