A fashionable Christmas: follow these trends to choose your decorations for the holidays
Are you looking for inspiration for this year's Christmas decorations? Here are some trends suggested by interior designers that are worth considering. At Christmas, decorating the house is usually a pleasure, and it can become even more so if you have the right inspiration or a theme to follow. Sometimes we decide to show off our tastes - in cinema and entertainment, for example - by putting up decorations that reflect these tastes. At other times, it's one color (that we really like) that predominates. And at other times, it's a mood we are in or a design style we adore (rustic, modern or vintage, for example).
Below, are some ideas echoing recent trends in the world of design which could be inspiring for you:
A Christmas in the colors of precious gems
If you don't want the usual riot of red and gold, or silver, or white this Christmas, then change your color palette! One of the most popular shade combinations currently are the ones inspired by the colors of precious gems. Imagine using the colors of sapphires, emeralds, amethysts or rubies for your decorative ornaments!
And this color palette is vast, varied and customizable, and can be used with almost everything. Even decorative ribbons, napkins, crockery or even blankets and cushions can take on this color theme.
Candles, ornaments and, above all, glass objects: if they have the tones and colors of precious gems, they will look rich and elegant!
Seasonal fruit in the Christmas decorations
This is for those who cannot resist the call of nature and old traditions: using seasonal fruit to decorate the house. The "queens" of this type of decoration are certainly citrus fruits - especially dried slices or peels filled with cloves.
But let's not forget pomegranates, grapes, pears and more: we can use real fruit to decorate baskets which will then be consumed at dinnertime. And artificial fruit can be hung on the tree, used to create table centrepieces, make testive wreaths and so much more!
Tall, colorful candles
If, however, you want to use candles, the trend is more for traditional ones, with tall, tapering shapes. So, have fun looking for candles in the colors that match the rest of the decorations you have!
Place these candles on shelves, decorated surfaces, on the mantelpiece or on the windowsills. A nice, simple candle holder (not too flashy) and a tall, tapered candle will be all you need.
Scandinavian inspiration
There is no Christmas in which a Scandinavian or Nordic inspiration does not play a role. Wood, green branches, decorations in neutral colors (which also include black!) are the iconic of this Nordic style.
White ceramic and clean shapes: when we think of Nordic aesthetics, bright, functional environments come to mind, welcoming in their simplicity but not devoid of warmth.
Traditional decorations can be created without overdoing the opulence and richness of details (as shown in this thin, but beautiful, wreath of evergreen branches).
Brass and chrome finishes for a sparkling Christmas
By contrast, if it is a year in which you want to lots of sparkles instead of the "usual" gold or silver tones, opt for the warm colors of brass or the sparkle of chrome finishes.
And if you want to really to be daring, how about trying out a trend that is becoming popular on social media: a "disco-themed" Christmas!
