Take inspiration from the colors for the year 2024 to set up your Christmas table in style
There are those who keep up with the times, and then there are those who anticipate future fashion trends. For the latter group, what better occasion than Christmas to experiment with unique decorations ? And not just the decorations, but even the dishes and centerpieces can be "played with" to make for a splendid setting.
But how can one anticipate future trends when setting up the Christmas table? One idea is to draw inspiration from the colors that are predicted to be popular in 2024. Almost all leading companies in the world have indicated which colors (and similar) will be fashionable next year. Read on to find out more:
Behr: Cracked Pepper
According to Behr, the color for 2024 will be "Cracked Pepper" (also know as "ground pepper"). It is a very dark anthracite grey, almost black, and very fetching in a matte finish.
To use this color on the table, you can start with the table itself - if you have a black one, don't cover it up! Or cover it with a tablecloth in this shade. For the table settings, you can decide whether to continue with this dark gray or create a contrast by using white (for the candles, for example).
As you can see, a satin gray/black also goes very well with metallic tones and festive red. And even checkered table linens suit this background color.
Benjamin Moore: Blue Nova 825
The color selected for 2024 by the New York firm, Benjamin Moore, is called "Blue Nova 825" and is a warm blue (thanks to the violet undertone which makes it very deep and enveloping). So, it's a dark but not cold blue, with a satin or even velvety finish.
Gold and platinum will be perfect combinations with this color to liven everything up.
A traditional and unfailingly accompaniment to this blue will be white, which makes the combination suitable for any environment and wood shades - as you can see in the picture.
If you then wanted to warm up the overall color palette a bit at the table, in addition to blue and white, you could add burgundy accents.
In all cases, obviously, we should never to include nature: fronds, pine cones and seasonal foliage can be used for table centerpieces and other embelishments. For example, an evergreen composition with some blue-purple berries could be the perfect complement for Blue Nova!
HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams: Persimmon
The American television station HGTV is also an expert in the world of interior decor, and, in conjunction with paint manufacturer, Sherwin-Williams, have stated that the color for 2024 will be "Persimmon" (the name of a much-loved fruit). Persimmon (the color) is actually a pink similar to salmon, with a delicate orange undertone.
Perfect with rose gold, this color will be stunning for a Christmas table spread.
For a slightly more sober combination, however, you could think combining persimmon with sage green and white. And it is easy to combine with silvery-green fronds, such as sage, eucalyptus, rosemary and more.
To avoid over-using this color, you could consider relegating it only to glasses and candles, or - as in the photo - to the centerpiece and glass candle holders. Everything else can be white.
Sherwin-Williams: Upward
The same paint company then selected a color that might be a worthy challenger to persimmon. This is "Upward" - a bright pastel light blue that reminds one of a clear winter sky.
With this color, combined with white, crystal and gold a table worthy of royalty can be set up!
For something less "ostentatious" but still elegant and welcoming, you can see that this type of light blue goes very well with natural wood and white, and also allows you to use flowers such as hydrangeas (if you can find them in December!) as a centrepiece.
