5 kitchen decor trends that will take off in 2024
Fashionable kitchens: in 2024, to be trendy, kitchens will have to have some very specific features. The dominance of white has waned, and now there's a shift towards rich colors. And, for example, if you were thinking about buying large light fittings, you might want to think again.
And then there are the materials, the furniture, and the type of cooking surfaces to consider. For a kitchen truly in tune with modern times, check out the following 5 trends:
The trendiest colors for kitchens in 2024: make room for rich tones.
A super-bright kitchen dominated by white was a standard worldwide. And as long as the Nordic style prevailed, it was also a choice very much in line with contemporary design trends. However, things have changed, and there is now a desire to add character by using bold colors that are warm and rich.
One of the favorites for those who aren't afraid to dare is burgundy. You'll notice that even certain appliances, and not just furniture, are starting to be produced in these rich colors!
Another increasing popular option in terms of color, is a satin smoky blue or a dark blue-gray, which is very elegant without necessarily appearing austere.
For those who prefer natural tones, earthy dark browns should be considered. And not just for small areas of the kitchen, but as the main color dominating the space.
Induction oven: a new favorite in the kitchen
It is said that professional chefs prefer gas stoves for quick heating and fine heat temperature adjustments. However, nowadays, induction cooktops and ovens also offer great control in this regard. Additionally, induction ovens produce less smoke and they eliminate the need for large extractor hoods.
Moreover, induction ovens are much less visible!
A dream kitchen has a fully stocked pantry
If in the past, the pride of luxury kitchens was the large island in the center of the space, nowadays, it's the pantry. Not just a separate piece of furniture, but rather an area of the kitchen dedicated to this function. Of course, this applies to kitchens with enough space to accomodate a full-on pantry!
Invisible lighting
Large light fittings hanging from the ceiling and directed over the kitchen worktops, are now falling out of fashion. While it's true that each section of the kitchen needs good lighting, it doesn't have to be old-fashioned. The trend now is towards recessed, "invisible" lighting solutions.
A passion for marble
Natural stone, like marble, continues to symbolize luxury finishes in the kitchen, making them highly coveted and undeniably beautiful. Whether used for countertops, backsplashes, or even larger areas of walls and floors, it all depends on your budget and the design envisioned.
Specifically, there seems to be an emergence of a taste for "dramatic" dark marble and stone. That said, it is worth remembering one thing: marble is timeless and precious, but it is also porous and prone to getting stained or damaged if used extensively and - especially - if washed often and with aggressive substances.
So, if you want natural stone in the kitchen, consider a more durable option, such as quartz.
