Elegant and luxurious in any room: but will marble still be in fashion in 2024?
Kitchen surfaces, a luxurious bathroom, and decorative items: marble has always been an excellent choice for furnishing homes. It is also quite expensive, which is why it is usually considered a luxury finish/touch and is often not exactly within everyone's budget. Historically, it is one of the best and most durable of materials, maintaining its charm even after many years. We still see it in luxury homes from centuries past, and it consistently appears in the designs of dream homes.
But is it still worth investing in marble? Will it still be in style in 2024? Let's take a closer look at this question:
An eternal and versatile material
Imagine being able to choose any material for your kitchen countertops - perhaps even for a beautiful island that stands out in the center: doesn't marble come to mind as the first option? There are various shades/types available, but usually, a white version with delicate veins tends to be the favorite.
Certainly, it doesn't lose its characteristics over the years, especially in terms of color. So whatever marble we install today will remain virtually unchanged over the decades to come.
But are there other considerations to weigh before choosing marble?
Marble: definitely gorgeous, but there are some downsides to consider
When it comes to aesthetics, few materials can compete with marble. However, there is a characteristic of marble that needs to be taken into consideration: it is a soft and porous stone. This means that if we use it in a highly trafficked/used areas - such as kitchen countertops where we use knives, place items and carry out other activities, marble can get chipped and/or stained. And if we forget to use the right cleaning products, marble can turn dull.
Of course, marble will always be a much beloved material, but in high-traffic/use areas, quartz is often chosen over marble. Quartz is similar in aesthetics to marble, is durable, is almost completely non-porous, and highly resistant to stains and scratching.
Marble in the bathroom

In the bathroom, things are different: it's true that we need to ensure proper hygiene, but there's no need to clean the bathroom as often as we do the kitchen. Therefore, using marble in bathrooms remains the choice of design specialists.
Marble tolerates water very well and if you consider it for flooring, it's best not to have a shiny finish: less risk of slipping!
Marble for furnishing details
Furniture like dining and coffee tables, as well as vases, flower pots, paperweights, or modern and classic sculptures: if you appreciate fine design, marble will give you this!
