Don't know how to clean your white shoes? Try yellow soap
A great footwear classic, white shoes are an accessory most of us have at least one pair of. Suitable for any type of outfit, from tracksuit to the most elegant dress, white shoes are popular with kids and adults.
The big disadvantage of these shoes, however, is how quickly they get dirty; without proper care, white shoes can quickly look dirty and worn-out..
You have probably already tried cleaning your white shoes several times, but the results may have been very poor, despite the use of expensive, special detergents. So, what can we do?

Yellow soap: what it is and how to use it
Also known as soft potassium soap, yellow soap is a very versatile degreasing and sanitizing product. Made using water, glycerin and coconut oil, this soap has a soft and gelatinous consistency and a delicate, pleasant aroma. It is a completely biodegradable and is therefore an ecologically friendly product - as well as being incredibly cheap. Its degreasing power is due the potassium salts, which are also the ingredient that distinguishes it from the more commonly used Marseille soap.
But how is this soap used?
There are many ways in which this product can be useful in our homes, a few of which are listed below:
- for hand-washing clothes or directly in the washing machine;
- for bathroom and sanitary hygiene;
- for kitchen cleaning and santizing work surfaces;
- for floors (in this case, it is also an excellent insect repellent);
- as a pesticide for plants.
Its high cleaning power therefore makes it very effective in the cleaning of our white shoes. Below, we explain how to do this:

To clean your white shoes, get a stick of yellow soap and a shoe brush.
Cut a piece off of the stick (this is also the most practical way to store the soap) and spread it on the brush. Then immerse the brush in a basin of water to wet it.
Scrub your shoes vigorously with the soapy brush, paying particular attention to the soles and the most stubborn stains. At the end of this operation, leave the shoes soapy for a few minutes, so that the dirt can be dissolved more effectively. Thereafter, you can wipe off residue using a damp, microfibre cloth.
Let the shoes dry out and you will see that they will be as white as the day you bought them!
