Used since ancient times for the preservation of food and to add flavor, salt is also very useful outside of the kitchen: salt is, for example, a very useful cleaning agent.

Salt in the fridge: advantages and how to use it
Creativo
There are two main advantages of using salt in the fridge:
- it absorbs excess humidity, ensuring the fridge performs better and creates a healthier environment for our refridgerated foods;
- it eliminates unpleasant odors that can develop inside the appliance and spoil the taste of refridgerated food.
To do this, place 3 tablespoons of salt inside a plastic or ceramic bowl and put it inside the fridge; for an even more effective, quicker result, you can place several salt-filled containers into the fridge - one on each shelf.
Unpleasant odors in the refrigerator: other natural remedies
There are several natural remedies that you can use to eliminate unpleasant odors from your refrigerator (or prevent them from developing):
- bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) is another excellent deodorizer, placed in the refrigerator in ceramic bowls as already described above for salt;
- coffee is also used in the same way: place the grounds in a small bowl and use them to absorb bad smells; an empty coffee packet can be left opened and placed in the refrigerator so that it releases its pleasant aroma;
- vinegar - a disinfectant and deodorizer - can be used in a spray container for weekly or monthly cleaning of the refrigerator. A shot glass of vinegar can also be placed on a shelf in the fridge to eliminate unpleasant smells.
