Not the usual curtains: decorate your windows using original alternatives
For almost every window, you need a curtain: it's a practical and stylish need that we take for granted. And so, in the vast majority of cases, we embark on the "journey" of choosing the right curtains for each location in our home.
That said, there are some slightly more "unconventional" curtains we can consider using. Below, you will find some of these unique "curtaining" ideas:
Roman blinds
There are many tutorials online for making Roman blinds (typically from scraps of fabric or even reed mats!).
Half-curtains
Does the light - reflecting off metal surfaces in the kitchen - dazzle and blind you? With half curtains, this problem is solved in a stylish way and without spending as much as on full-length curtains.
And curtains of this type (half-curtains) are also useful in relaxation corners, to give privacy and be as shield from the sun's rays.
Macrame curtains
No fabric to make a curtain? Then you could use macramé: it's fun to learn this knotting skill, and will give you unique curtains.
Seamless curtains
There are also tutorials online to make Roman blinds that you don't have to sew... and also for other styles of blinds for smaller windows.
Swing rails, on independent arms
Not just one curtain rod but... four! Two on each side, top and bottom, so that the curtain opens like a window covering. And they won't pick up dust from the ground!
Tie-back curtains
Sometimes, style is in the details: the drapery of the fabric itself can become decorative. Tie-back curtains certainly look elegant.
A rustic touch
There are also some very simple ideas for those who love a rustic and country style, quickly done and which give an extra flair to the room.
Shading panels
And who said that only curtains can provide shade and decorate? Taking inspiration from the East, even fixed perforated panels can fulfil this function.
Not just fabric!
You can really go wild finding materials to decorate your windows rather than using traditional curtains.
