A small hole and voilà: a glass jar is transformed into a colorful and fragrant creation
What can you do with a glass jar? Well, it could become a great source of light! Very easily, you can make an "ancient" lamp, but with a bit more "style".
Once you understand how to do this, you can convert any jar into a lamp. Read on to find out more about this project that will take you only a few minutes.
Don't throw away those lids!
Creativo
To create a lamp of this kind you will need a glass jar with a metal lid. It doesn't really matter what condition the lid is in: we just need a lid to drill a hole through and through which the wick of your lantern will be threaded.
You will need: jars with metal lids, water, vegetable oil (even a super-cheap one will do) and floating wicks (because cotton ones don't work well with oil).
Then you decide how to decorate the lamp.
How to fill your jar lamp
You can let yourself be inspired, for example, by nature and the seasons. For this, you can use dried or fresh fruit, spices, but and flowers of all kinds!
Whatever you choose, you'll need to put the decorations in the jar first, then add water to cover them. Pour a little oil over the water: you will now have to a thin layer of oil which will remain on top, preventing the water from evaporating quickly. At this point, insert the wick.
Make sure the top of the wick comes out of the top top of the lid. Then, screw the lid back on.
Alternative versions
There are also versions that only use oil (and no water). In these cases, you will need a very long wick (perhaps using string for this purpose).
Another idea is to use water dyes and essential oils: it will be a very fragrant and colorful candle for your home!
You can also use jars of different types, and one more idea to decorate them could be to use crystals, fake gems, colored stones, shells and anything else that can remain immersed and looks attractive.
