This may seem like an unusual remedy, but it is very effective. The plastic bag will generate static electricity, which in turn, will attract dust and hair, trapping it on the plastic.

Moreover, this remedy is also extremely cheap: how many plastic bags do you have at home scattered about? Once done, turn the bag inside out and use it as a trash bag.

And what about furniture and other surfaces? You can dust these with a microfiber cloth moistened with white vinegar or with a solution composed of 4 parts water and 1 part laundry softener.

To prevent your home from getting dirty quickly, you can take some precautions:

• take off your shoes when you enter the home - the floors will stay cleaner for longer;
• air out all the rooms for at least 10 minutes every day;
• clean the house regularly;
• dust several times a week, concentrating on the carpets, curtains, cushions and sofas (which tend to accumulate a lot of dust and are favored by mites).
