Anyone who enjoys nail varnish art will already know how the combination of hot water and drops of nail polish can be very useful for decorating objects. And this technique is especially striking when done on a white (or light) ceramic surfaces.
In addition to a basin with water and the varnishes, it is advisable to have a toothpick and some paper tissues to hand.
Fill the basin with hot water - it doesn't need to be boiling. Drop drops of nail polish onto the surface of the water. Just one color is fine, but by mixing different colors, you can get some very interesting chromatic effects. Since the density of varnishes is different to the water, the varnish will expand and float on the water like a drop of oil.
Now, you just need to carefully dip the object - like a mug - into the water very carefully. The surface of the mug will pick up the varnish as you do so. Withdraw from the water with equal care and you're done!
