Create space and tidy up using dividers in every room: ideas to be inspired by
Furnishing is not only a matter of choosing colors and styles, but also satisfying needs: however beautiful the furniture, floors and walls may be, if the house is not tidy and there is no space to move around, one may have to reconsider one's choices. We all have fundamental needs, so certain areas must be equipped properly. But what can we do when there is very little space available to "reshuffle" and reorganize things?
We need to review the way in which the available space is divided up (or not) to make sure we are making efficient use of every square centimeter available.
You don't necessarily have to suddenly put up a proper dividing wall: you can easily create a partition with a hanging divider like this one. And this one allows light to pass through too.
The same goes for partitions made from narrow shelves, completely open, and which create an intricate grid: it will be beautiful to look and will create the partition without making the areas feel cramped.
Even simple sliding glass panels can be use for this purpose. Store-bought models are available, but there is no lack of DIY projects you can consult to recycle some old doors and windows yourself.
Then, of course, there is the traditional partitioner: the screen. And these days, you can find an infinite number range of styles that these screens come in!
You don't even need to completely fill the space horizontally or vertically to create a partition: just by strategically placing some decorative elements - like lamps, vases or wooden panels - can serve to create the divisions.
Want to try making a divider with your own hands? You could weave one using the macrame technique.
And using wood can offer up a thousand interesting ideas: panels to close with hinges, or rigid boards that slide vertically and more. You can find a thousand ideas by searching online!
Or use curtains: these are an cheap, versatile and are always effective solution. And they are no hassle to draw or leave parted. Not to mention how much choice you have in terms of fabrics, prints, size, etc.
Curtains are mainly used to divide the sleeping area from the rest of the bedroom, especially in one-room environments, but they also work to separate off other areas in the home!
