Gold jewelry is precious for all of us. Most of us have some gold earrings, rings, necklaces or bracelets in our possession and which we might wear every day. That said, being in daily contact with our skin, gold jewelry ends up getting dirty and looking dull.

We know that we can take our gold jewelry to be cleaned by professionals using ultrasound, but this can be expensive and inconvenient. But there is a way to do this cleaning at home and all you need is some beer. Read on to find out more:

Beer can be used as a cleaning agent for our gold jewelery in a "naturalistic" way at home. For this task, we need to only use light, blonde beers (lagers). The reason? This type of beer contains fewer hops than other darker varieties, which, in turn, means the beer has just the right level of acidity to polish gold.

It all comes down to the hops contained in the beer: hops contain the alpha acids that can remove the dirt and patinas that tarnish a metal like gold.

The method is very simple: take a glass and fill it to halfway with beer. Then get a soft cloth (suitable for polishing metals), dip it in the beer and rub it on gold jewelry you want to clean. Then wait for it to dry, without rinsing off.

This beer-cleaning method is also recommended by experts. However, there is one very important thing to remember: it is a method that works well on gold, but should not be used on gems, like diamonds. Do not use this to clean any gold jewelry that have gems set in it.

Have you ever tried to polish your gold jewelry using beer?
