Few materials are as attractive and robust as stainless steel. This metal has many advantages and remains the preferred materials for the vast majority of people around the world (especially in the kitchen). Being so robust, stainless steel is unlikely to get seriously damaged.

However, even stainless steel can get marked with limescale residue left by water splashes and drips, and can get covered with a fine film of grease (which attracts dirt particles). So, how can we get our stainless steel kitchen sink, for example, look like new again without leaving any scratches?

Well, you can try out one of these methods:

  • White vinegar (alcohol, wine, apples or rice vinegar types can be used): mix vinegar and water in equal parts in a bottle, close the plug, pour the mixture into the sink and leave it to act for a quarter of an hour (or more). To ensure that the mixture also adheres to the sides, you can use absorbent paper: place it on the metal so as to cover the entire surface and spray it with the mixture. After a quarter of an hour, empty the sink and rinse out. Remember to immediately wipe down the surfaces with a soft microfiber cloth to dry the sink thoroughly.
  • Lemon (wedges or even already-squeezed halves): take the lemon and rub it like a sponge over the entire surface. In this case, the acid in the juice will dissolve any limescale and restore the shine to the metal.
  • Baking soda: create a paste with water and baking soda. Then spread the paste over the sink with a soft sponge. Rinse and dry off.
  • Denatured ethyl alcohol: you can pour this directly onto the surface to be washed and use a microfiber cloth.

What's your favorite method to make stainless steel shine again?
