Doing household chores is not something we can put off for too long: if we keep putting it off, in fact, cleaning later can be harder to do. Washing the dishes, doing the laundry, cleaning even the most inaccessible corners of the house are just some of the chores we have to do at home. But then, there are some tasks which can leave us scratching our heads, or are very unpleasant to undertake.

Due to this, we are always on the lookout for better ways to do these chores. And sometimes, we can indeed find alternative ways of doing things.

To secure your German-model electrical sockets when you are not using them (and especially if you have small children at home), recycle a plastic bottle cap: it will fit perfectly, protecting your kids for zero cost. The cap of any plastic bottle will work, although you will get the best results from juice bottle caps.

If you have an old toothbrush at home, don't throw it in the trash: with a lighter and being very careful, heat the plastic behind the head and bend it backwards. In this way you will get a practical brush to clean the insides of glass jars and bottles.

To clean narrow spaces, for example between the cracks in the window frames, you can make a homemade cleaning tool by wrapping the blade of a table knife with a microfibre cloth. Now you can get into even the tightest crevice!

What a nuisance steel sponges are on our fingers! But a quick and easy tip solves this problem instantly, also allowing you to hang the sponges up on the wall after use.

Cut the neck off a plastic bottle and make an X-shaped incision into the cap. Tie a string to the sponge and pass it through the incision in the cap, tying a knot close to the cap. Now your fingers will be protected and the sponge will have a convenient hook to hang it on the wall.
