12 great alternatives to "hide" a bed in a studio apartment

No one wants that the first thing guests see when they enter their home is an unmade bed. Seeing something like this can be very off-putting. But when you live in a one-room apartment, for example, a guest can see your entire apartment - warts and all - in just a single glance.

That said, there are ways to create more privacy - even in small spaces and one-room apartments. Check out the ideas below:

If the bed is positioned so that it has some space around it, a bookcase placed at the foot of the bed will hide it from view.

If, on the other hand, using a bookcase is not for you, try using something a little less dominating. For example, an open wardrobe, or shoe rack, can be used for the same purpose.

The same approach can be taken by flanking the bed with a piece of furniture (like a chest of drawers, for example).

And then there are, of course, the walls: maybe not whole walls, because they these would enclose the bed in a suffocating manner. But a half-wall can be erected using plasterboard.

These are solutions that can be creatively customized.

Another winning idea for partitioning spaces, gaining privacy but not giving up light and air, is by using glass walls.

And when you find the right one, it's hard to resist the appeal of a large, suspended object that acts as a divider: a huge framed mirror, for example (but also wooden planks or even old doors can work)!

If the shape of the room allows it, the sleeping area can also be closed off - if necessary - behind sliding panels, which end up creating a sort of "adjustable wall".

Wood-based solutions are also very beautiful, with walls made of slats, for example, that allow light and air to pass through them.

Cheaper, but with a bohemian charm, is the idea of using curtains to partition the bed from the rest of the flat.

And what about creating a corner enclosed by curtains but also a bookcase that acts as a wall? A DIY project within everyone's reach.

There are even those who completely hide the sleeping area, closed in a compartment in the wall which, when the doors are closed, looks like just another made-to-measure wardrobe!

How would you block the view of your bed in a studio apartment?
