When you travel around, you always hope to find accommodation that is well-kept and in which the rules of good hygiene standards are respected. And this is one of the main reasons why, when choosing where to stay, we obviously avoid low-quality accommodation.

Today, the internet helps us to make the right choices, especially when referring to customer reviews. Unfortunately, however, excellent reviews are not always synonymous with good hygiene. There are, in fact, some hidden factors to consider which only insiders are aware of.

We reveal today 4 objects that you should avoid using in hotels (and similar), as attested to by hotel staff.

According to insiders, there are 4 objects you need to pay attention to (or avoid using) when staying in a hotel:

  • The first thing to watch out for - and absolutely avoid using! - is the tea/coffee machine. In fact, cleaners usually have the habit of limiting themselves to cleaning the tank of the machine, not the entire system and pipes, so you could find residue of drinks prepared by previous users in the machine. Or it can even be worse: there are horror stories about guests who wash small items of clothes (like underwear) in hotel teapots or kettles.
  • It is also probably best to avoid using reflllable bottles of soap, shampoo and similar. Before use, make sure that the bottle is new and/or that it has an unbroken seal. Here too, there are horror stories about guests who have "diluted the shampoo with..." - it's best not to mention with what.
  • Have you ever found glass drinking glasses in your hotel rooms? We hope that you haven't used them, as they are generally filthy. Plastic cups in disposable packaging are much better - or use your own water bottle/cup.
  • Finally, we advise you to avoid using the bedspread. Hotels don't wash them after each guest has left and you never know who has slept on it before you. And while you're at it, check for bed bugs before you settle in – it only takes a minute and you will save yourself a nightmare later.

You're probably thinking of buying a motorhome now, right?
