Planters with birdhouses: a super-easy, quick and cheap project to decorate your garden
How wonderful it is to walk around one's garden and see all the beautiful flowers and ornaments that decorate it! Sometimes, we don't realize how just a small touch can transform a garden. There are, however, a myriad of easy projects you can try out and very often, they involve decorating with plants and planters (plant pots).
And what if the planter also supports a hanging birdhouse? Inviting birds into the garden enriches it, reduces the presence of harmful insects and they promote the biodiversity of the local ecosystem in general.
This idea became popular thanks to a video shared on social media by Matthew Bounds (better known as "yourbarefootneighbor"), which shows how he tackled this DIY project.
In fact, Matthew assembled the object in less than 15 minutes using planter with a sticks on which to hang two birdhouses.
He used a large vase (a plastic vat replica of a wooden one), a stick with hooks (like those used for hanging baskets - also called "shepherd's crooks") a drill, a hammer and of course, the wooden bird houses.
As you can also see in the video below, after having drilled a hole in the center of the bottom of the vat - into which the stick was inserted, Matthew filled it with soil to provide support and a place to plant flowers. It is a very simple project and also highly customizable.
Be sure to choose houses or feeders of similar size and weight and that are not too heavy to for the stick or its hooks. And there are types of wood (for the construction of the houses), which are more suitable for some species of birds than others.
And if you don't want to use the stand for birdhouses, it could still come in handy for small flower baskets or even hanging up strands of lights in the garden!
