Do you need to clean the bathroom walls quickly? Use a broom on the tiles to fly through this chore

When you clean the bathroom routinely, you don't always have the time to wash the walls: usually you focus on the areas behind the sink, the walls of the shower cubicle and the spots around the tub. But in reality, all the tiles in the bathroom need to be washed periodically, to prevent the formation of dirt deposits and mold.

However, getting up to these higher spots on stepladders and chairs can be dangerous, no? But why not use a simple tip?: use a broom! Read on to find out more:

We are talking about a regular floor brush, or maybe a flat mop used normally for dusting the parquet. However, you will need to "modify" them for this chore.

And you will have already guessed what you will need: First, you need some microfibre cloths. Also, you will need rubber bands or pegs. Use large cloths, and everything will be easier.

  • With a regular broom - one with bristles - take a cloth and place it on the ground. Place the broom's head on it, about halfway down, then pull up the cloth and cover the whole broom head, reaching up to the handle if possible. Use the rubber bands to secure the cloth in place.
  • With a flat parquet mop, you can do the same, but perhaps pegs can be use for the securing here.

Now you just have get a bucket full of water and soap (or whatever mixture of products you prefer) that is large enough to dip the broom into to wet the cloth that covers it. Put on some gloves and squeeze the cloth out a little by hand, then rub over the tiles. Use clean cloths to rinse and dry off. If you don't have a bucket big enough, try using a basin.

Useful alternatives: many of the rotary mops, which are flat, can also be used to clean wall tiles. Again, you may be better off using a long-handled squeegee (like the ones used for car windshields).

Other advice: when you only need to wash superficially, you can spray your cleaning products (and maybe even an anti-mold products) directly on the cloth that covers the broom, without having to dip in water and wring it out first. However, it will be necessary to rinse off.

Do a good job once, rather than a poor job twice (or more)!
