These 10 clothing types must be banished forever from your closets
With each change of season it's always the same old story: we examine our wardrobes and quickly find many garments that have been laying there, unused for years. There are many reasons why we keep items of clothing that we know we will never use again - usually it's because we are emotionally attached to them.
There's the best man's tux worn at our friends' wedding, an old carnival costume, clothes from when you were thinner, and so on. Then there are the clothes that were purchased but never worn - new clothes we don't want throw away because it seems like a criminal waste of money.
That said, there are 10 types of garments that we keep in our closets but that we should toss out immediately. Let's discover what they are:
- Clothes for dirty jobs: certainly, we all have old and worn out clothes in our wardrobe which we use for doing jobs that would ruin our everyday clothes. Redecorating the house, gardening, deep cleaning sessions - these are all jobs that would ruin our regular clothes. However, this is not a good excuse to continue to keep these work clothes in the closet. Toss them out (or store them elsewhere).
- Uncomfortable shoes: It's true that high heels and pointy shoes are attractive, but let's face it, they are very uncomfortable, no? Every time we try to wear them, we quickly give up on the idea. So, why keep them? It's much better to get rid of them (along with the temptation of trying to wear them again).
- Expensive suits: We all have a very expensive suit in our closet that we bought during a sale and never wore. Perhaps we lacked the courage, the self-confidence or the right opportunity. Well, the day you wear it will never come - toss it out (or give it away).
- Clothes and shoes in need of repair: Honestly, if you were really going to have those shoes fixed or the hem of that dress lifted, you would have already done it, don't you think? Much better to get rid of these items.
- Gifts: Mothers often have a poor taste when it comes to buying clothes for their children. How many times have you received clothes as a gift that you didn't like and that you've never worn? Don't keep these any longer and free up space for clothes you do wear.
- Old fancy-dress costumes: Whether they were for carnival, Halloween or the stage, you will almost certainly never wear them again. Don't keep them just as a reminder, it doesn't make sense.
- Worn, torn or faded clothes: why do you keep these if you can't wear them?
- Free clothes and accessories: printed shirts received for free with the purchase of specific products, branded bags to be used for shopping, cheap jewelry paired with shirts and dresses. You certainly have better-quality clothes and accessories than these.
- Special event dresses: How many weddings have you attended? And how many special even dresses have you worn only once? Of course, they cost a lot, but be honest: how many more times do you plan to wear them?
- Emotional ties: Every time you clean out the closet do you find a pile of clothes that you just can't get rid of? Do you feel that you have an emotional bond with some of your clothes - to the point where you can't get rid of them? How many times have you worn these clothes in the last few years? Don't you think it's time to let them go?
How many of these items do you still keep in your wardrobe?
