Properly maintain your washing machine with the help of a coffee cup

To properly maintain the washing machine, we can use some natural ingredients. In particular, sodium bicarbonate and white vinegar are often recommended as remedies to be used in an empty wash cycle. This will help combat limescale or dirt build-up that may be lodged in the recesses of the drum, impeding proper operation. The result will be a cleaner, more fragrant laundry.

Even better than vinegar or baking soda is using citric acid. This product is less aggressive (so the rubber parts of the machine are safer). In general, citric acid is also less polluting than the other remedies mentioned.

How does the coffee cup help us?

A coffee cup is useful due to its capacity. Usually, a standard coffee cup contains 50 ml of liquid. So you just need to fill it a cup with 2/3rds of white vinegar and 1/3rd water. Now you will have a product you can pour directly into the washing machine drum and start a high-temperature washing cycle.

To use the other ingredients in a similar way, you can replace the vinegar with a generous spoonful of bicarbonate, poured into the cup, and then dissolved in hot water (filled to the brim). Alternatively, two tablespoons of citric acid dissolved in water, filling the cup. In both cases, wait for the mixture to cool down a bit before pouring it into the detergent dispenser.

Do an empty wash and no more often than once a month.
