11+ spots in the kitchen where you can easily gain extra space
Even the most spacious kitchen needs to be meticulously organized: the optimisation of this important room in the house, in fact, does not derive exclusively from how large the room is, but from how easy it is to use. And this can be achieved using some useful tips.
Once organised properly, we will always know where to find what we need, where to put things back after use, all without wasting time or stressing ourselves unnecessarily. If you think you have run out of space however, don't be discouraged: you probably still find some - read on for some great tips!
Hooks inside kitchen cabinets
You can use the inside of kitchen cabinet doors to hang up all your small and light objects (such as measuring spoon), thereby creating order.
Also check out the internal walls of each unit: if they are free, without objects resting up against them (especially on top or under the shelves), then you can put up some handy hooks here too, for accessories of all kinds.
And then there are the hooks you can put under shelves, from where you can hang, for example, cups and mugs!
The walls
If you still have space on the walls, but don't want to fill it with wall units, consider using open pot holder shelves. There may be dust to consider, but if it's pots and pans that are used often, this won't really be a problem!
Sliding drawers
Under the sink and inside larger kitchen units, install sliding drawers (or baskets): you will be able to get to all the contents much more easily!
Stackable containers
For all small objects, usually piled up in drawers or baskets, it's better to use transparent containers with lids: you can stack them too, clearly seeing what's inside. It's a solution that works in just about any room, but is often overlooked.
Horizontal spices
If you can afford to allocate a drawer - perhaps a shallow one - to spices, it's worth doing. It will free up space on other shelves or wall units!
Hooks everywhere
Tea towels, bags, and more: there are a thousand objects that we can hang up instead of placing inside kitchen units, and we gain a lot of space this way!
Add-in shelves in the kitchen units
Usually, kitchen units have very large compartments, which we do not take full advantage of: try using add-in shelves to optimize this space!
Magnetic organizers
If all the space is taken up, you may still find some on the kitchen appliances. For example, what about the metal sides of the refrigerator or microwave oven? Here, you can put up magnetized kitchen roll holders, for example.
You can get some light shelves, with powerful magnets, to organize smaller items.
If you don't usually close your stove with a glass top, or if there is still space on the wall just behind it, a custom-made shelf could be very useful. It will have to be cleaned constantly, but it's worth it to gain more space!
Now go optimize your kitchen!
