16 ingenious tips to try to keep a tidy home
It's nice to have a house that is always clean and tidy, and we soon learn that we have to work hard and never put off various household chores for too long. But it is also true that some tips and tricks can make our lives easier.
For example, there's a simple way to perfectly arrange the sheets on a mattress; an easy, zero-effort method to clean wooden chopping boards; a great way to suck up the dirt in cracks where the vacuum cleaner can't reach, and more. Read on to find out about these valuable tips!
Tie back the curtains elegantly
Curtains drawn back are often beautiful on their own, but held in place with a few, decorative clips, they look more elegant. Don't have any clips? No problem: a wooden or plastic bracelet, will allow you to tie a bow in no time!
Neat cables around the desk
To quickly find the charging cable when we are lying in bed, on the sofa or sitting at a desk, you can help yourself with a simple, small, adhesive metal hook: in this way, you can find the cable quickly and prevent it being crushed by moving furniture and/or castors.
More space for linens in the closets
Folding sheets can be a taxing chore, especially for ones with elastic corners that seem to fight our efforts - but there is hope! And let's imagine we do manage to fold them up and put them in a closet. But later, every time we go to get out som clean sheets, we inevitably move the others too, creating a mess.
The trick to place the full bed set into one of matching pillowcases, so everything will remain separate and you will always have more space in the closet!
Nooks and crannies - we don't fear you!
Even the most powerful vacuum cleaner, if not equipped with a suitable nozzle, can never really clean all the nooks and crannies in our home, such as those around the window frames. But to solve the problem, just attach a flattened cardboard tube (toilet roll tube, for instance) to the vacuum's hose!
Effortlessly clean chopping boards
Wooden chopping boards are exposed to liquids from meat, fish, vegetables and various sauces. In fact, many experts advise using dedicated boards for each food group. Given this, just scrubbing them with a sponge is not sufficient.
Take a deep tray, fill it with a couple of inches of hot water, place the chopping board inside and make sure the water covers it. Add some dish soap and let it soak for an hour or more. You will see that all the dirt rises to the top! Then remember to let it dry out thoroughly, in the sunshine (if possible), before putting it away.
More space in the cupboards
There are some tips that will allow you to gain precious space inside your cupboards: with cups and mugs, for example, it's better to place them side by side, keeping one horizontally and one upright, so that they don't take up extra space. In the case of coffee cups, however, you can stack them in pairs, one on top of the other.
