Squeaky clean oven using only one natural cleaning product: here's how to do it
Cleaning the oven is one of those unpleasant household chores we tend to postpone doing. Yet, this is a job that should be done to ensure proper hygiene standards and the efficient functioning of the appliance.
There are many methods and commercial cleaning products available in shops to do this job. But a more natural, eco-friendly approach can be used too.
Here is one that could be right for you:
To clean the oven, many choose to use chemical detergents. But these contain substances that are not eco-friendly and, sometimes, can even be harmful. On the other hand, there are those who prefer to use natural degreasers.
When it comes to the oven, in particular, some use a combination of vinegar and baking soda or lime juice and baking soda to cut through grease. These products, without a doubt, are very good degreasers. But here, we will show you a method that will let you save even more time and effort: a lemon.
Yes, with just a lemon and water you can degrease the oven properly. Fill an aluminum (oven-proof) basin with water and dilute the juice of a few lemons into it. Place the solution in the oven, turn it on and set a temperature between 120° and 150°C and close the door. Leave this act - with the oven on - for about half an hour. The solution, while evaporating, will settle on the internal walls, and the cleansing and degreasing action of the lemon will start working. After 30 minutes turn off the oven, open door and let it cool down. Then, only using a damp cloth, you will be able to remove all the grease and dirt - and leave a pleasant lemony scent behind!
This is a completely natural solution which, if used diligently and consistently, will keep your oven clean and perfumed. Just give it a try!
