Add this feature to your wardrobe to make it even more useful

A well-structured, properly-organized wardrobe/closet is a great little pleasure in any home. Whether it's a classic wardrobe full of compartments or a walk-in closet that occupies almost an entire room, being able to arrange and store everything we need to properly is very satisfying. And if we can add to this pleasure with something clever and quirky - like disguising and/or hiding the laundry chute as part of the closet - so much the better.

This is a very simple DIY project presented by Instagrammer @tiffanytcheng. Read on to find out more:

In order to do this DIY project, you will need to have an empty shelf or compartment in your closet. It is not necessary for the compartment to have a door, but it would be better if it did - if only for aesthetics. If you have this, you can create a useful laundry chute!

Here is what you need:

  • A swing lid from some trash can. Choose one that is well made and has a nice finish. And make sure the diameter is large enough to comfortably accomodate larger items of clothing;
  • A saw;
  • Sand paper;
  • Silicone, or some other strong glue;
  • A laundry hamper.

You have probably guessed already how to proceed:

  • Trace the shape of the lid onto the shelf where you will create the chute's door, choosing the spot that matches exactly the empty compartment below, where the dirty clothes will end up;
  • Cut out the corresponding piece of wood with the saw;
  • Smooth out any roughness around the hole with sandpaper;
  • Secure the lid: it will have to protrude slightly above the shelf;
  • Place the laundry hamper in the compartment below, ready to collect dirty laundry.

As you can see, this is an easy, fast and cheap project. Check out the video below for full details on how to do this useful DIY project:
