Skirting boards need cleaning? Avoid over-exertion by using 4 simple tips

Cleaning floors is something we might do every day or so, but when it comes to walls and skirting boards, we tend to neglect these areas. In fact, they are often difficult to reach and clean properly.

In the case of the skirting boards, they force us to lower ourselves, bending our backs, in order to do a good job. However, if we clean consistently, dirt will not accumulate, and we can do this task without bending over: just follow a few tips.

Skirting boards need cleaning? Avoid over-exertion by using 4 simple tips - 1

Obviously, we all know that to reach difficult areas, we can use a broom or some other extendable tool. But just using a broom is not sufficient to do a proper job: and this tip can help you.

Old sheets, tea towels, microfiber cloths, old towels – all of these items can help. You will need to wet them with water and vinegar in equal parts (just mix them in a spray bottle) and wrap them around the broom (or flat mop or squeegee), keeping them firmly in place with rubber bands. Then pass them over the dirty area.

Alternatively, you can also take old sheets, tear them into strips to wrap the broom in, pour a glass of water and a glass of vinegar into a jar, along with a couple of drops of dish soap. Shake well, and then fill the jar with the strips of cloth. If you need more liquid, always increase it proportionally. Leave the strips to soak, then remove and wring out very well. Wrap the strips around the broom's head and you can proceed with the cleaning. Instead of vinegar, if you prefer, you can use lemon juice!

Old tights/stockings: if you only have to dust and not degrease, tights are the most effective solution. These too should be wrapped around the broom's head and will prevent you from having to bend over.

Old socks: you can use them like the scraps of fabric described above, but also for dry dusting.
