Floors are one of the surfaces we focus on the most when it comes to choosing how to furnish the home. In fact, not only does their appearance influence the look in a room, they set the tone for the entire domestic environment. The continuous traffic flooring must endure may lead us to invest a little more in order to choose flooring materials that are both beautiful and durable.

Sometimes, however, the cost for good flooring - the materials and installation prices - is just too high. Fortunately, however, there is an innovative solution that can solve this problem: magnetic floors.

This type of flooring allows you to rennovate a room quickly and without having to spend a fortune on installation costs.This revolutionary flooring is composed of magnetic tiles - made of thermoplastic material - and provide a beautiful and resistant floor.

As you can see in the video above, there are two parts to a magnetic floor:

  • The underlay is made of a very thin metallic material;
  • Magnetic tiles - which in most cases are made with ferro-PVC compound - and can have a myriad of finishes (including a faux wood veneer).

No glue or cement is needed! In fact, when tiles and underlay come into contact, a magnetic field is created which ensures a firm grip and without the risk of the tiles slipping or moving under your feet.

An essential precaution, however, is that the area must be spotlessly clean before laying the underlay and the tiles. Additionally, the area must be perfectly level and free of cracks or crevices. If necessary, the base surface must be sorted out before putting down the underlay.

It is also possible to install this type of flooring over underfloor heating systems.

So, if you want to lay a new floor in your home, a magnetic floor could be the answer (especially since you could lay it over an existing one!). What do you think?
