A foolproof way to fold sheets neatly and save storage space

Storing sheets neatly is always a difficult task to accomplish. The large dimensions of sheets make them tiring to fold, especially when done without help; moreover, sheets with elasticated corners also have a very particular shape, increasing the difficulty of folding them correctly.

If you just toss your sheets into a closet, this article is for you. Indeed, there is a foolproof method to fold the sheets so that they take up as little space as possible and fit perfectly on the shelves or in drawers. And you don't even need to iron them - they'll be wrinkle-free when you use them!

@sara_home_organizer teaches us on her Instagram channel how to fold the sheets neatly:

We start with the most complicated object, a fitted sheet. Lay it on the bed folded in half, with the two lower corners tucked inside the upper ones. Slip a hand into one of the two corners and lift the whole sheet, pulling it so that it straightens and bringing up one corner inside the other. Then arrange the outermost side and lay the sheet on the bed, folding the sides inwards to create a straight rectangle. At this point, fold it in half horizontally, then in three parts vertically and in half again horizontally.

This last part of the procedure hinges on the space you have available: depending on whether you need a square or rectangular shape, adjust the folds so as to match the sheet with the space in your drawer or shelf.

Now it's time to fold the pillowcases. In this case the folding method depends on the space you can use, but you can spread them on the bed and fold them first in three parts vertically, then in half horizontally.

For the top sheet, the task is much simpler: in fact, it is sufficient to take all 4 corners in one hand and lift the sheet by shaking it a little to straighten it. At this point, spread it on the bed and eliminate any creases by passing your hands over it. Take the bottom sheet and the pillowcases (already folded) and place them on the open sheet, near the side closest to you, in a central position. Fold the sheet in 3 parts vertically, grab the part containing the other sheet and fold it horizontally.

Now take the last flap and fold and insert it into the pocket that has been formed. Your sheet will be perfectly folded and you can store it in an orderly manner!
