Plastic shopping bags are a constant cause of clutter in our homes; we always promise ourselves to reuse them, but we often forget and have to get more. The result? The bags get crammed into some drawer or under the sink, causing a lot of mess.
There are numerous containers we can use for plastic bags and we can make these ourselves. However, even with containers available, if we persist in stuffing plastic bags into the drawers, these will not really help us out!

The trick to minimizing the clutter plastic bags cause is to fold them properly. You certainly already know how to do this; it's a tip that our mothers and grandmothers used to use, but perhaps we get a little lazy. If you don't use this technique yet, here's how to do it:
- Start by spreading the bag flat on a table;
- Fold it in half vertically and then in half again;
- Starting from the bottom, fold the bags diagonally, to form a small triangle;
- Fit the handles under the outermost flap of the triangle so that it stays closed.
Your bags will now be perfectly organized and will take up very little space! Now you can store them as you wish - inside a paper or fabric bag, or in a disposable bag or even in a basket or special container, purchased or created using DIY. Certainly, your drawers will be much neater!
