Net bags and creative recycling: 4 imaginative ideas for reusing this resource
Have you ever thought about reusing the net bags in which your fruit and vegetables are supplied? Indeed, this is a material with a lot of potential for doing creative or practical DIY projects with.
Net bags come in different colours, shapes and sizes and this accentuates their versatility, making them a favorite material for recycling enthusiasts.
To prove this to you, we briefly illustrate below four ways to creatively reuse net bags.
The first project we show here combines the resolution of a practical problem with a creative proposal. It's about using the netting to hold some flowers still in a vase and turn them a wonderful centerpiece.
All you need to do is cut a disk with a diameter which is a few centimeters larger than the opening of the jar you have chosen. Obviously, fill the jar with water, cover it with the netting, keeping it taut, and secure it with an elastic band on the neck of the jar. In the holes of the net you can insert the stems of the flowers, creating the composition you like and knowing that they will not move.
What remains of the net you can use by combining it with matching ribbons to create a bow that will decorate the vase, hiding the part of the net held by the elastic band.
To create wonderful decorative flowers that can be used for various occasions, cut the netting to the size you like and some cardboard circles that you will use as a base for your flower.
Using the cut netting, create petals to attach to the cardboard base and add any details you like, such as ribbons and crochet details like the ones in the photo. Now, you can use these flowers to decorate other objects.
How about a super-cute summer bag for the kids? They can use it to put their beach toys into, or simply take it with them when the go out.
All you need to do is take a fairly large net bag - like the ones used for walnuts - and sew handles to it. In the project pictured here, the handle was made by making a braid of twine.
For colorful decorative bows to be used, for example, on gift packages, get yourself some long, narrow pieces of netting. All you need to do is join the ends of the net strips, attaching them to the center, to make small bows of different colors which you can, in turn, use by themselve or combining them with other decorations.

Obviously, the most practical way to always have the necessary netting you need for DIY projects is to save your fruit/veg net bags!
