Scarves and foulards are accessories that it is difficult to do without to complete your look, and they become truly indispensable when you need to protect yourself from the cold. And if you dabble in crochet or knitting, you probably have a many scarves at home. Scarves, shawls and foulards come in many types and, unless you use very few of them, it is very likely that they are all crammed into some drawer in a chaotic way.

It takes a bit of organization to keep scarves from taking up unnecessary space - and it's not just about knowing how to fold them up properly. Here are few DIY ways to store your scarves:

Roll them up neatly and put them in a basket: it's easy, practical and fast.

For smaller scarves, which are less bulky, placing them in a nice transparent container - such as an old glass jar with a lid - is a great idea.

If there are not too many and you want to keep them in order, you can cut segments from PVC pipes and use them as dividers.

A wooden drawer divided into multiple compartments of equal size becomes a fantastic scarf holder to hang on a wall.

All you need are two or three rails or towel holders fixed to a wall (or behind a door), and you can quickly place all your scarves - even the heaviest ones - that you wear most often.

Anyone who is sure they can keep the dust at bay will enjoy this fun, colorful display method: filling the rungs of a ladder with lots of colorful scarves.

If you fold your scarves into squares or rectangles, you can treat them like magazines, to be placed in a special support mounted on the wall. Order and efficiency.

Inside a wardrobe - or wherever you find a place - round rings like those use for curtains are a way to hang multiple scarves on one rail. And this works for ties too.

An inventive DIY project: each scarf held by a peg attached to a small wooden board.
