Greasy hood and baking tray: a method to thoroughly degrease both objects at the same time and effortlessly

There are areas in the kitchen that seem to attract dirt all the time, even when you try to prevent it happening. One of these areas is the extractor hood located above the stove: an indispensable tool for minimizing the formation of the film of greasy dirt that forms in the kitchen - but which inevitably gets dirty itself.

In the more modern models, fortunately, disassembling the filter of the hood is quite easy, but it can be done with the older ones. And you should clean the hood frequently: as soon as you notice that there's greasy and sticky dirt present, it's time to get cleaning. A clean hood will be able to do its job better.

But had you thought that, when you have to deal with this chore, you can also optimize your time and deal with another tricky cleaning chore at the same time?

The method is brilliantly explained in a YouTube video on Uradi Sama's channel - Ideje za kreativce, in which the woman shows that she uses only 3 tools to clean both a dirty baking tray and the extractor hood filter at the same time. These tools are:

  • A kettle (which of course you can replace with a pot of water boiled on the stove)
  • A tablet for the dishwasher
  • A brush for washing dishes

Just reading this short list, you will probably understand what you have to do:

  • Remove the filter from the hood;
  • Place the baking tray on a table (it must be large enough to hold the whole filter, or at least allow you to immerse half of the filter in it).
  • Place the washing machine tablet in the center of the baking tray;
  • Slowly pour the boiling water directly onto the tablet, so that it dissolves;
  • If necessary, finish dissolving the tablet by breaking it up and mashing it with a fork, spoon, or ladle;
  • Immerse the filter in the water and leave it to act for a few minutes;
  • After a few minutes, start scrubbing the soapy water all over the filter;
  • Rinse the filter off in the sink;
  • Continue to scrub the water on the dirt in the baking tray, which will have softened in the meantime.

That's it! You can see in the YouTube video how easy this is and how awesome the results are.

If you use a tablet, it is important that the water is boiling hot, otherwise there is the risk that it will not dissolve properly. Alternatively, you can also pour two tablespoons of baking soda and some liquid dish soap into the water, and follow the same steps.

Great job!
